In honor of a great man of God Martin Luther King. I always marvel at the sinfulness of this nation that allowed such racial discrimination to continue for so long. Where were the Christians? Did they speak out against this? If those in politics would have just read their bibles and trusted in the words of the Lord they would have seen that all men are equal in God's eyes. And according to the word of God we are all one race descendants of Adam. This man was clearly used mightily by God!

great video ! thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteNo, many Christians did not speak out against it; they were right there in the midst of the racists with biblical texts in hand. I think racial discrimination is one of those issues from the past that should bring about great humility in Christian theology today. We need to be VERY careful what we claim is the plan of God for human behavior. Remember Christians used the Bible to burn the reformers at the stake, justify slavery and refuse women the vote, among other atrocities. Even Moody Bible Institute forbid "inter-racial dating" into the 1960's. For a very interesting look at this topic, see the book Coffeehouse Theology, by Ed Cyzewski.
